December 2014 Studio Sessions

It has been a while since our last photo blog post here. Over the past few months, we have had to deal with many family and work related challenges which unfortunately prevented us from shooting as much as we had hoped and updating this blog.

This past December, we held a full-day studio session at F40 Studio in Huntington Beach. It was a lot of fun working with  some wonderful families and their sweet little kids. Shooting active kids in a studio is a true challenge. They always seem to have very little patience for posed shots, yet it is difficult to take natural portrait shots in a studio while the kids move around requiring the lighting setup to be adjusted on the fly. Still we tried our best to capture some genuine expressions on the kids.

For this series, our lighting setup included two to four AlienBees B800 strobes with a few different modifiers including an 86″ Silver Parabolic reflector with diffusor. We had two camera setups; a Nikon D4 with a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 and a Nikon D800E with a Nikon 85mm f/1.4D.
